Nick Allan is the president of Chinook Contract Research Inc., a pioneer in the field of antimicrobial product development testing, focused on providing innovative and practical solutions to medical, agricultural and industrial problems caused by microbial biofilms. Nick has over 10 years’ experience in the field of microbiology. Using his integral understanding of the science and nature of biofilms, he has provided innovative solutions to client issues ranging from proof-of-concept studies for anti-infective candidates, to full scale regulatory submission studies. In 2012, Nick partnered with Alberta’s poultry industry stakeholders and Alberta Veterinary Laboratories (AVL) to form the Institute for Applied Poultry Technologies. The IAPT is a not-for-profit entity established to evaluate novel and innovative cost saving poultry health technologies that will enhance biosecurity, prepare for disease outbreaks before they occur, reduce input costs, improve product quality and consumer confidence. The IAPT is based out of the Aridrie Agriculture Centre. Nick Currently serves as the Institute’s General Manager. Nick is a microbiologist by training. He holds a B.Sc. in biology and M.Sc. in microbiology from the University of Guelph. Nick moved from Ontario in 2005, and married his best friend in 2008. Presently he lives on a small farm near Drumheller and enjoys spending time with his wife and three young daughters. |
